Each year the UAC recognizes an outstanding volunteer for the organization. Named after Al Jones, our long-term dependable, reliable, patient and energetic volunteer in the UAC office, the award is given to an individual who is has dedicated their energy, time and skills to the service of the UAC.
Louise Smith wins 2009 Al Jones Volunteer of the Year Award
For her outstanding service as a Champion Caller and all-around volunteer for the UAC, the UAC was pleased to present Louise Smith with this award. Many may recognize her voice as a Champion Caller, one who calls donors to personally thank them for their gift.
Smith is originally from Pennsylvania and came to Greensboro in 1990. She received her masters from UNC-Greensboro. After retiring from her nursing career, Smith dedicated her time to serving the arts as well as Urban Ministries, Greensboro Interfaith Hospitality Network, her church and the League of Women Voters in the Piedmont Triad.
